Southeast Yacht Services is presently equipped for marine surveys, appraisals, consulting and other related services in the marine industry. Marine surveys are performed for a number of reasons and the procedures for each varies according to your needs.
PRE-PURCHASE SURVEY - Condition & Valuation This is the most comprehensive type of inspection, and is strongly advised when purchasing a new or used vessel. Condition and the overall operation of the vessel should be examined. This includes such items as structural integrity, out of water inspection, sea trial, electrical systems, propulsion system, fuel system, machinery, navigation, on-board systems, cosmetic appearance, electronics, and overall maintenance.
INSURANCE/FINANCE SURVEY - Condition & Valuation This inspection is performed so that the insurance company or Bank can determine whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk. They are interested in structural integrity and safety for its intended use. Most insurance companies and lending institutions require a survey of older boats. They will also want to know the vessel's fair market value. These Surveys and Reports will not be as comprehensive as the pre-purchase survey format. sea trials , haul outs, and other services will be considered add-on services at the request of the party requesting the report.
APPRAISAL INSPECTION This inspection is performed to gather enough information to justify or determine the fair market value of the vessel. This is normally needed for estate settlements, donations, and legal cases.
DAMAGE INSPECTION This is performed to assess the extent of damage, recommended repairs, estimate repair costs, and if requested, probable cause.
