About Walt Pilny

Captain Walt Pilny brings a lifetime of boating experience both professionally and recreationally to the business of Marine Surveying.
A licensed United States Coast Guard Captain, Walt learned to water ski at the age of 6, raced drag boats at 18 and at the ripe old age of 24, he purchased and restored a 1967 36' Mahogany Trojan Voyager.
The 90's brought the honor of being the official Pace Boat Driver for the Great Lakes Offshore Power Boat Association and in 1997 Walt was named Pace Boat Driver for the Sandusky Super Boat Challenge.
Over the last 4 decades Walt has represented several boat manufactures as a sale representative, a marine service manager, owned Walt Pilny Transport specializing in road delivery of large yachts and was President of Walt Pilny & Associates Yacht Sales a full service Yacht Brokerage. Now 49 years and a multitude of boats later Capt Walt is an avid sailor "You might say he has tried it all".
Since 2002 Walt has focused his attention to surveying. As a Surveyor Associate with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors Walt gets great satisfaction in knowing he not only can help you find that special boat, but that through the services of a Professional Marine Surveyor, your family and friends will be that much safer when you cast off and head out on the open water.
