Insurance (Condition and Value) Marine Survey
An Insurance survey, also know as a Condition and Value Survey, is typically required by the Underwriter every four to six years or so depending upon the company. They want the survey to determine if your vessel is a suitable risk for it's intended usage.

The purpose of this inspection is to let you and the underwriter know of any safety or maintenance concerns, as well as placing a fair market value on the vessel.

This survey is not a detailed as a pre-purchase inspection in that a sea trail is often not performed, sail inventory is not inspected, etc.
