Jno. B. Lee Company was founded by Jonathon B. Lee in 1893. Our business consisted of independent inspections and field surveys for insurance companies, and also for private parties. Jonathon preferred a more professional approach to the business world, and decided to abbreviate his first name as Jno. With the business later being incorporated, the abbreviation has remained. Mr. Lee died in 1922, and the company was then owned by the Graef family until the mid 1950's. Robert (Bob) Jensen bought Jno. B. Lee Company and the firm expanded to handle numerous insurance related matters, including property and liability losses. Over time, the company honed in on the specialty marine work, and by the 1970's, Jno. B. Lee Company was highly regarded for their marine survey expertise. When retirement time approached, Bob Jensen worked with his son Randy as a mentor, to continue the business, and the torch was passed to Randy Jensen on January 1, 1991. Randy continues to own and operate Jno. B. Lee Company today. The company is recognized as one of the longest continually operating firms in the State of Minnesota.
