| There are no college degrees here, just more than 35 years of hands on experience. Brian Galley SAMS® AMS®, the principal marine surveyor, served his time when a young man on gas and diesel engines in England and then served three years in the Royal Air Force, again working on engines. He moved to Cape Town, South Africa where he got the sailing bug and subsequently spent over 35 years involving boat building, boat maintenance, ocean sailing and marine surveying. Brian has been an Accredited Marine Surveyor® with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors® in the USA since 1998. He has surveyed about 800 vessels during that time, both sail and power. His surveys include a full sea-trial and hull and deck integrity including moisture readings. He produces very professional and detailed reports (usually about 30 pages) which are accepted by virtually all insurance and financial institutions.
