Peter McGuire SAMSŪ AMSŪ is the owner and principal surveyor of Fastnet Yacht Surveys Limited. He has a B.Sc. (honours) in engineering (Southampton, U.K.) and is a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) in the province of Ontario, Canada. Originally a member of the "Canadian Association of Marine Surveyors" (now defunct), Peter joined SAMSŪ (the "Society of Accredited Marine SurveyorsŪ") in 1996 as a "Surveyor Associate".  Peter successfully completed his "Yacht and Small Craft" accreditation examination in 1998 and is presently the Canadian Regional Director of SAMSŪ Peter is also a Transport Canada "Tonnage Measurer", appointed to perform tonnage surveys on vessels up to 24 metres in length Peter has extensive knowledge of the pleasure boat and small craft industry and is the owner of a 30' "Albin Ballad" sailboat which he sails out of the Etobicoke Yacht Club in Toronto, Ontario.
